International Research Skills Development Programme (IRSD)

With the aim to enhancing RPg students’ personal and research effectiveness and promoting international collaboration, the International Research Skills Development Programme (IRSD) was first held in summer 2009.

The design of the programme is based on a successful formula which has been running regularly at Imperial for the last few years with a number of extra elements added to the Hong Kong based course. The programme adopts an interactive teaching mode focusing on experiential learning, achieved through a series of challenging group tasks. It goes beyond academic study and research skills, and offers a wonderful opportunity for the development of awareness and skills which are significant for students’ postgraduate study, career and whole person development.

IRSD Summer 2012 (Application Deadline: May 7, 2012 (Monday) (extended))

HKU Graduate School, in conjunction with IC and Shanghai Jiaotong University, is offering a 4-day IRSD from July 10 to July 13, 2012 at HKU. The programme is specifically designed for early stage PhD students and MPhil students who are about to embark on their PhD studies. (Click here for the programme leaflet and application form)

This year, 24 HKU students participated in the programme together with 18 students from Imperial College London and 8 from Shanghai Jiatong Universities.
