GRSC6010 Logic, Critical Thinking, and Creativity
Content:
This course is about basic thinking skills, and how they can
be applied in research and practical situations. Critical thinking
is a matter of thinking clearly and rationally. Creativity is a
matter of discovering new and useful alternatives. Topics to be
discussed include conceptual and argument analysis, problem-solving
methods, fallacies, logic and scientific methodology.
Organization:
Each offering of the module comprises twelve hours (two hours per
week for six weeks). The module is offered once per year.
Enrollment:
In the academic year 2011-12, this course will be offered
in Semester 1 only.
Assessment:
Pass/Fail: Written assignments and/or exam
Outcome:
At the end of the course, students should have a basic understanding
of the principles of critical thinking.
