All new research postgraduate (RPg) students who register in September 2011 and thereafter and who are required by Faculties/Departments/other units to undertake teaching and/or assessment duties are mandatory required to complete a 24-hour training course "Certificate of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education: Stage 1" offered by the Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) before Faculties/Departments/other units assign such duties to them. The policy was approved by the Teaching and Learning Quality Committee and the Policy Board of Postgraduate Education in 2010-11 to ensure that RPg students engaging in teaching related duties possess the level of competence and skills required.

Subject: Notification on Coursework - GRSC6009 ‘Research Ethics for Graduate Students’

3-year PhD students registered on September 1, 2011 and thereafter are required to take the course IF they have not yet completed equivalent training in previous research degree programmes. Please click here for the notification on the coursework on GRSC6009.

To adopt a more integrated approach in the management of research postgraduate education, the structure of the two sub-committees of the Policy Board of Postgraduate Education, viz. the Board of Examination for Graduate Studies (BoEGS) and Board of Graduate Studies (BoGS), is streamlined. The Senate approved at its meeting on July 6, 2010, on the recommendation of the Policy Board of Postgraduate Education, a proposal that the BoEGS be disestablished and the powers and duties of the BoGS be extended to cover the responsibilities of the BoEGS.
